The LORD is on the MOVE

“It’s she, the white witch, that makes it always winter. Always winter and never Christmas; think of that!”

These were among the first words uttered to the sons of Adam and daughters of Eve when they first stepped into the country of Narnia. The white Witch ruled with much cruelty, with her wand she turned anyone who rebelled against her into a statue. She was a great deceiver too, and her food was the bait, anyone who tasted it never stopped wanting it and deeper into her camp they went. Before one knew it, they were fully caged by her, helpless and hopeless even as she forcefully released her cruelty onto them. Ask Edmund, one of the sons of Adam, for he had the best experience of her.
But a great hope lay in the hearts of most of the Narnias’; though many had not experienced it in their lifetime they believed it to be true. ASLAN was on the MOVE! King of the wood and the son of the great Emperor-Beyond-the-Sea. As Mrs Beaver clearly articulated It, “Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight, At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more, When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”

The same scenario faced the inhabitants of Bethlehem and it’s environs. They were no longer free people; Roman authorities ruled the land and they extorted all that they could from the increasingly downtrodden people. At the same time, the captives remained chained, the sick waited in anticipation and the blind yearned for their sight again. Many generations had gone by but a few never forgot the great prophecy “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. You have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as with joy at the harvest, as they are glad when they divide the spoil. For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. Isaiah 9:2‭-‬4‭, ‬6‭-‬7 ESV‬‬‬

The announcement of Christmas ought to be such good news to us all as it was in the fictitious land of Narnia. A time when winter loses its power and gives way for spring. A delight to all, the trees, the butterflies and every other creature. . ASLAN is one the MOVE. Destroying the evil magic of the White Witch. Ready to die for the rebellious Edmund. Offering a Merry party to the squirrel and his wife with their children and two satyrs and a dwarf and the old dog-fox. Giving gifts to the sons of Adam and daughters of Eve. The LORD is on the MOVE! Preaching Good news to the poor, proclaiming liberty to the captives, giving sight to the blind and proclaiming his year of favour.
Yes, He has made it Christmas and in Him we can rest and rejoice.
